‘Finally, I also feel that the proposed development is not conducive with the other quaint adjacent buildings, setting an unacceptable precedent for higher rooftops and an altered skyline,’ he added.Īnother neighbour, Sean Henstridge, said the building was ‘far too large and over imposing for a quaint village back lane’. ‘I am also concerned about the risks that the required building works will introduce to the foundations and fabrics of adjacent and close-by listed buildings, including my property, which are of significant historical relevance,’ he said. ‘I can understand the developer’s aim to maximise his sale or rental return by providing sea views but this should not be to the detriment of adjacent residents, or the character of the area.’ In a further submission, resident Robert MacRae said the proposed development would reduce natural light to his property – particularly on the ground floor and adjacent outside area. The proposed terrace would overlook my own terrace, contributing to a loss of privacy on my part, even though we are a street above Le Quai Bisson,’ he said. ‘This would have an overbearing impact and serious loss of light regarding my own property, and potentially affect my satellite reception. In a public comment submitted to the planning section of the government’s website, neighbour Robert Jones said he was concerned about the proposed height of the homes.

The scheme has received a number of objections – including from the National Trust for Jersey, who believe the new development would not be appropriate in the context of the existing building and represents an over-development of the site.

The plans include turning the industrial unit at Le Quai Bisson, formerly occupied by Mailmate Print, into two two-bedroom properties with parking and rooftop amenity space. PROPOSALS to demolish a former printworks in St Aubin in order to create two new homes has sparked a backlash from neighbours, who have raised concerns over the scale of the development.
